The media has been focusing one of the largest stories of the week, Russia’s heightened involvement in Syria. With troops on the ground and some claiming Obama to be defeated, this news has understandably been on the tip of everyone’s tongue.
But in the meantime new developments have surfaced, these hitting much closer to home, that is, unless
you are from Syria.
Herbert Appelgate, a middle aged web developer based in Dordrecht contacted news outlets early Wednesday afternoon after finding worrying pictures of this mother. The photos in question showed her being courted by the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

“These bloody Russians. First Syria, now my mom. She only just retired this month and I bought her a day at the spa for her birthday last week.” spoke Herbert, visibly shaken.
While experts are not willing to jump to conclusions, Russia’s involvement with Herbert’s mother may implicate a much larger plan, and a new focus for Putin’s foreign policy. In recent reports that have been flooding the interwebs many experts cite Russia’s need for a better international reputation as a potential reason for the surprising development.
An expert from the Political Sciences department of Leiden University called this a “worrying move,” and went on to advise everyone to “go and make sure you mother is busy this weekend,” in order to avoid another play by the Russian government.
As for Appelgate himself?
“I don’t understand what Putin’s interest in my mother is. I’m not looking forward to a major inheritance anyways.” claimed a befuddled Appelgate. “I’d just advise you to call your mother and see where she is; you don’t want it to be too late.” he went on to say.
So maybe it is time to put in that call to your mom after all. What is Russia’s next move? How will Obama respond? Stay tuned to LUC News.
