As the capstone deadline is coming up, more and more of the fascinating capstone topics students are writing on are being leaked. One such was released early Tuesday morning, the capstone in question belonging to a 3rd year Human Interaction/Diversity student. Her thesis? That LUC Central post frequency correlates perfectly with “perceived importance.”

The capstone introduction claimed that: “This paper will focus on the idea that LUC Central posts can directly influence the perception the student population has on the poster. The original hypothesis was that with more LUC Central posts the poster would increasingly look more important.” While the student appears to not have aced her Academic Writing class, her message gets across.

She continues by summarizing her actual results: “By using statistical analysis of social media as well as short internet questionnaires, this paper determines that perceived importance does increase in tandem with an increase in LUC Central posts until reaching a critical peak where the writer is almost as important as Fortuna.” A key point of the paper is the acknowledgment and proof that no one person can be as important as Fortuna, no matter how much they post on LUC Central.

The paper concludes by recommending that similar studies be conducted with LUC Academics in the future, because according to the author “LUC Academics is quickly gaining momentum as the new LUC Central, only a bit more prestigious as teachers and staff are included in the group alongside students and alumni. Students appear to pause more before posting on LUC Academics, they want to look good, while anything goes on LUC Central."
